Face to the Sun: Shifting Our Mindsets in Difficult Times
Victor Frankl said, “Every test in our life makes us bitter or better. Every problem comes to break us or make us. The choice is ours whether we become Victim or Victor.” In these current times, we chose how we respond to events and we choose how we feel. In this session, participants will look at two opposing mindsets - that of “the victim” and of “the victor”. They will look at the characteristics of both and learn strategies that will help them shift their thinking in positive directions. The goal is to leave feeling more empowered and more able to feel compassion and joy.

*Note to participants* - A graphic organizer is avaialbe to download and print for use during the session.

Making the Most of Lesson Plans
You arrive in the classroom. The children are already noisy and seeing you there are mixed vocal reactions. The instructions for the day have just been given to you as you signed in minutes ago. You hastily dump your coat and belongings…turn around and begin your day! The notes you have in your hand are barely legible, too short, too long, no class list and everyone is looking at you…. In this session we will look at several examples of “interesting” lesson plans and we will actively come up with numerous survival strategies. Please come prepared to participate. Resource materials will be provided.
